Labour Exchanges across Canton Zürich are reporting increasing numbers of highly-qualified jobseekers among their clients. The Labour Exchanges in Canton Zurich have responded with an innovation aimed at bridging the gap for these mature candidates. Senior managers, specialists and experienced professionals have been invited to help the highly-qualified and experienced potential recruits to find employment in their sector. The mentoring support helps the candidates to develop their strategy and positioning, promote themselves to potential employers and it provides access to new networks. The mentoring programme complements the Labour Exchanges’ core offer of guidance, courses and coaching to improve a candidate’s job applications. // Show less

In early July, following a successful year-long pilot programme, Canton Zurich approved roll-out and expansion of its Mentoring Programme. Just 10 weeks later, the web-based platform to support the programme is live online. The main aim is to find new mentors who are interested in helping and advising highly-skilled and experienced staff to find new career openings. The website is intentionally free of third party branding as the programme is based on close cooperation between Canton Zurich and trade and industry organisations as well as with the businesses from which the mentors are drawn. The close working relationship between public sector and private industry is key to building a bridge connecting highly-skilled and experienced candidates with potential recruiters. // Show less
